About
GHSS Vaduvanchal
GHSS Vaduvanchal, in the remote and rural village of Wayanad District, Kerala, serves a community of 1,881
students. Predominantly hailing from farming, daily wage, and tea plantation backgrounds, their parents
toil for modest livelihoods, often relying on seasonal work. Approximately 30% of students belong to
indigenous tribal groups like Paniya and Kuruma, with some from more vulnerable communities such as
Kattunaika and Cholanaika, residing near forests.
While a few pursue higher education, many opt for skill-focused certificate or diploma courses post
graduation. The school community actively contributes to academic and infrastructural enhancement, sports,
cultural activities, and social awareness programs. Through various committees and groups, such as the
Parent Teacher Association and School Management Committee, there is continuous engagement between the
school and the community.
Initiatives like the Pre-Primary Park, Mathematics Park, Carbon Neutral Program, Football Academy, Skill
Park, and Heritage Museum, spearheaded in 2022, underscore the commitment to holistic student development.
Collaborative efforts with local organizations and government institutions foster a sense of empathy and
civic duty among students, ensuring they emerge as well-rounded contributors to society.
